I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. After attending International High School at South Eugene High School I moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University. Just as my second year of college was to begin Hurricane Katrina hit the city. I evacuated to St. Louis and attended Washington University until I could return to Tulane and participate in the rebuilding of the city. I volunteered as an EMT and for an after-school robotics programs, FIRST Team 1304 NO-botics.
In 2008 I moved to Seattle to begin graduate school in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Washington. For a description of my current research interests head to my research page.
